🎬Create highlights

❓ What is it?

Create highlights finds the most engaging moments in your sequence and turns them into short, ready‑to‑share clips. Ideal for shorts, reels, teasers, and social cut‑downs.

🤔 How does it work?

  • FireCut analyzes your audio transcript to spot compelling, self‑contained moments.

  • It adds red chapter markers named “FC Highlight” at the suggested start/end times.

  • You can review, move, add or delete highlights, then generate new sequence(s).

  • Optional: re‑frame to 9:16, add captions, find B‑roll, and auto‑generate descriptions.

⚙️ Settings

  • Detection

    • Number of highlights: Approximate frequency per hour of footage (slider).

    • Highlight duration: Minimum/maximum target length (5–120s).

    • Scope: Full sequence or In/Out points (set I/O in your timeline).

    • Accuracy: Enhanced accuracy of start/end times (slower, more precise).

    • Language: Set the spoken language (non‑English currently experimental).

  • Edit highlights

    • Highlights list: Click to jump to a highlight; move the red markers to adjust; “X” to delete.

    • Add new: Select a range with In/Out points → “+ Add new highlight”.

    • Overlap guard: If highlights overlap, generation is disabled.

  • Create sequences

    • Re‑frame to 9:16 (vertical)

      • Premiere Pro Auto Reframe: Motion tracking speed (slower/default/faster).

      • Custom re‑framing (Beta): Use viewboxes with face detection; fine‑tune framing.

    • Add captions: Apply your FireCut captions style to each highlight.

    • Find B‑roll: Auto‑suggest B‑roll for each highlight.

    • Generate descriptions: Create text descriptions for social posts; copy/regenerate.

    • Create multiple sequences: Make one sequence per highlight, or a single combined sequence.

    • Output: Sequences go to the “Highlights” bin with clear names (e.g. highlight_… or <original> highlights (… )).

💡 Tips for best outcomes

  • Use In/Out points to focus detection on the most relevant section.

  • Pick a sensible duration range (e.g., 15–60s) to get tighter, punchier clips.

  • Turn on Enhanced accuracy to get better timing accuracy for the highlights.

  • For vertical export, re‑frame to 9:16; use Auto Reframe for speed, Custom for control.

  • Creating multiple sequences is great when you want separate exports per highlight.

🙋‍♂️ Common questions, issues, watch-outs

  • “No highlights found” →

    • Try widening the duration range, using a longer scope, or enabling Enhanced accuracy. Ensure the audio is clear enough to transcribe.

  • “The ‘Create…’ button is disabled” →

    • Highlights are overlapping. Adjust or delete overlaps in the Edit view.

  • “The highlights start/end a bit off” →

    • Move the red chapter markers directly, or enable Enhanced accuracy for tighter timings.

  • “Vertical framing isn’t centered” →

    • Use Custom re‑framing (Beta) and adjust viewboxes; or try a different Auto Reframe speed.

  • “Descriptions didn’t appear” →

    • Click Regenerate or ensure you enabled Generate descriptions before creation.
